Sarah and Steve - My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of such a great loss. Your mom was a remarkable person and I shall never forget her. How wonderful of you both to take care or her during the past few months. You are to be commended. It truly was a wonderful day when we were able to be with her for the last time at the celebration of her life.
We all loved your mom so much. Thank you for all that you did and thank you also for giving us the opportunity to see Lorena one last time at the celebration.

May I express my deepest sympathy to the friends and family of Lorena Raker. I am Lorena's cousin and just heard of her passing yesterday.
At this time I would like to share this beautiful poem to celebrate her memory and her life:
God's Garden
God looked around his garden
And found an empty place
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest
God's garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best
He knew the roads were getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb
So he closed your weary eyelids and
whispered "Peace be thine"
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you did not go alone
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home

Sarah - My thoughts are with you and your family at this time. I know how hard it is to loose your Mom. When things get rough, think of what your Mom would say or do - it usually helps. Remember she'll always be with you! Lisa Pardee

I will always remember Lorena laughing, creating the most lovely watercolor pictures and soaking in the beauty and peace on my deck in my back yard. She is greatly missed and loved by those who had the priviledge of knowing her. Thank you for helping her to do it her way. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Eileen

The world has lost someone very special. How lucky we all are that she touched our lives. You especially, her family, will feel the aching pain of that loss. You will receive many kind words of condolence, all heartfelt and full of prayers. Some may even bring a smile to your lips and some may cause a tear to dampen your cheek. I am in awe of Lorena's life and her style of living. Always warm hearted and welcoming. Willing to share her many artistic talents. Her gift of laughter and just good old fashioned fun. I wasn't able to stay long enough to see her at the Celebration of her life, but I was there and I witnessed all the tender and warm spirit that filled the room. Fortunately, for me, I was able to purchase a painting and a few of her books. I will cherish these more than you can ever know. The gathering of her friends in order to say good-bye was such a wonderful idea. You are to be admired for helping Lorena leave this world in style and grace. Let me join you in your sorrow as I share in the pain of saying "so long" to a good friend. . . until we meet again.

Sarah, Steve, Blair, Jon I was so sorry to learn of Lorena's passing. What a wonderful, caring, talented (the list could go on and on) person she was. It was her love of art and style of teaching that got me back into art classes again. I also had the priviledge of spending last September at one of her Plein Air workshops at my sister Marie's camp and enjoyed every moment. The poem below reminds me so much of what your Mom would say. God Bless you all.
Miss Me But Let Me Go…
When I come to the end of the road
And the Sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me but let me go!
For this is a journey we must all take,
And each must go alone!
It's all part of the "Master's" plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart,
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows
In doing good deeds,
Miss me but let me go.

Sarah, Blair and John,
I want you all to know what a very special person Lorena was to all who knew her. She was indeed kind, generous, funny and a true friend. She was loyal to those that she loved and was so quick to love us all! I am so glad we had last summer to enjoy at the lake investigating the various sights for the Plein Air workshop. We spent many happy times talking, walking, laughing and painting. The workshop, especially with you, Sarah and Steve, was so special because we were able to enjoy each other's company in such a peaceful environment. Mom spoke so often of her time with you at the cottage, such fun! She will probably be teaching her dad and mom how to play Sequence!
I was so sorry I was unable to attend the Celebration of Life last Sunday. My nephew's graduation from college at St.Lawerence took way longer then we had expected and Carol and I were unable to get down from Canton in time. For that I will always be sorry but I believe Lorena knew how much she meant to us and that we would have been there in person if it had been at all possible although we certainly were there in spirit. I heard all the wonderful details from several of the girls who did attend. What a wonderful idea, just like mom! All my love, Marie Duink
