Obituary of Joseph C. Palumbo

Mr. Joseph C. Palumbo Frankfort-Mr. Joseph C. Palumbo, 87, of 508 Palmer St passed away Thursday, May 18, 2006 in St. Luke´s Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Frankfort, NY on August 15, 1918, the son of the late Frank and Theresa Chard Palumbo and he attended Frankfort schools. He was married to Vita Tangorra on June 2, 1943 in St. Anthony´s Church, Herkimer. He served with the US Army during World War II in the European Theater and was Honorably Discharged on October 16, 1945. He was the recipient of three Bronze Service Stars and the Purple Heart for injuries sustained on January 20, 1945. Mr. Palumbo worked as Machinist for Union Fork And Hoe Co., Frankfort until his retirement in 1969. He was a Communicant of Our Lady Queen Of Apostles Church and a member of the V.F.W Post #502, Frankfort - Ilion and Diamond Service Club of the Union Fork & Hoe. Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Vita Palumbo; three sons & daughters in law, Joseph & his wife, Joann Palumbo of Utica, Frank & his wife, Jill Palumbo of Frankfort and Richard & his wife, Joann Palumbo of Green Island; his grandchildren, Gina & her husband, Steve Pearce, Kristin & her husband, Joseph Longo, Joseph & his wife, Jami Palumbo, Christina Palumbo, Richard Palumbo and Matthew Palumbo; seven great grandchildren, Joey, Catherine Vita, Gianna, Jared, Kendall, Jackson and Luca; three brothers & two sisters in law, Frank & Terry Palumbo of Frankfort, James & Mary Fran Palumbo of Schuyler and George Palumbo of Frankfort; one sister & brother in law, Phyllis & Michael Fiorentino of Frankfort; his in laws, Frank Tangorra, Phillip & Liz Tangorra, Cosimo & Harriett Tangorra, Michael & Joan Tangorra, Bella Aiello, Lucy Marollo, Rose Maida, Janet & Bill Palmieri, Palma & David Calenzo, Kathy & Frank Baretta, Joseph Bellino, Paul Zito, Theresa Tangorra, Anita Tangorra and Trudy Tangorra; his aunt, Bella Bono and several nieces nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one grandson, Ryan Patrick Palumbo, one sister & brother in law, Frances & her husband, Michael Tomaino, one brother, Alex Palumbo, one sister, Rose Bellino, one sister in law, Elaine Zito and two brothers in law, Alex Tangorra and Richard Tangorra His funeral will be held Monday morning at 11:30 am from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 12:00 pm in Our Lady Queen Of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Alfred Lamanna. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Sunday from 4-8 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.
