Miss Rebecca Ann Roemer Ilion - Miss Rebecca Ann Roemer, 31, of 163 Central Ave passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 4, 2006 in Little Falls Hospital. She was born in Ilion on July 6, 1974, the daughter of Charles and Linda Bawolak Roemer and she attended Ilion Schools. Rebecca overcame many handicaps. As a young girl she was an avid gymnast and competed on the Leather Stocking Swim Team winning many ribbons throughout the state. She was the first handicapped child to be admitted into the Head Start Program in Ilion, setting a precedence for other children. She attended the First United Methodist Church, Ilion and as a child enjoyed summer camp and playing in the bell choir. She loved children and especially baby sitting. Rebecca is survived by her beloved mother, Linda Roemer of Herkimer; one brother, Charles J. Roemer of Oneonta; one sister & brother in law, Laura & Chris Renshaw of Herkimer; her niece & nephew, Maddie Renshaw and Wyatt Renshaw; her companion, William Sklarz of Ilion; Rebecca's uncles & aunts, Ron & Barbara Lowell of Mohawk, Brian & Bonnie Millar of Herkimer, William & Darlene Bawolak of Herkimer, Mike Bawolak of WA, Lisa Hawkins of Herkimer, Stephanie Bawolak of Jordanville; one great aunt, Florence Sudakow and several cousins. She was predeceased by her infant son, Michael James in 1994, her father, Charles Roemer in 1992 and her childhood friend, Tanya Travis in 1990. Her funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 pm from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer with the Rev. Anthony Ligato, Pastor of Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church, officiating. Interment will be in Cedarville Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Thursday from 5-8 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home.
