Mr. Albert E. Adamko
Herkimer - Mr. Albert E. Adamko, 95, formerly of E. Steele St. passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born in McKees Rock, PA on March 7, 1920, the son of the late George and Pauline Drozda Adamko and he attended Emmensburg and Stratford schools. Albert served with the US Army during World War II in the European Theater and was Honorably Discharged on October 6, 1945. He was married to Stella J. Maksymow on May 18, 1946 in St. Joseph's Church by the Rev Vincent Nowak. Stella passed away on September 20, 1996. Albert was employed by Pettibone, Rome until his retirement in 1985 after 20 years of dedicated service. He was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church and a former member of its Holy Name Society. He is a member of Little Falls American Legion and the Herkimer Polish Community Home.
Albert is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Adamko-Holt of Berkshire, NY and two sons and daughters in law, Walter and Patricia Adamko of Rocky Point Long Island, NY and Stephen and Victoria Adamko of Laurel, MD; six grandchildren, Steven Marrotta, Noël Marrotta Bocskor and her husband, Peter, Suzanne Adamko Isaacs and her husband, Lyle, Christine Adamko Harris and her husband, Zachary, Matthew Adamko and Timothy Adamko; four great grandchildren, Claire Isaacs, Rachel Isaacs, Jonathon Marrotta and Teresa Marrotta; four sisters and one brother in law, Mary and Cecil Bronson of Little Falls, Ann Czerniawski of Herkimer, Helen Urich of Little Falls and Rose Hubiak of Herkimer and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, Joanne Adamko on May 8, 1953, and four brothers, Carl Adamko, John Adamko, Peter Adamko and Michael Adamko.
His funeral will be held Thursday morning at 8:30 from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 9:00 in Sts. Anthony And Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Quy Vo. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday for 4-7 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home.
