Obituary of Agnes M. Bowman

Mrs. Agnes M. Bowman Frankfort - Agnes M. Bowman, 68, of 402 Palmer St. passed away peacefully Thursday, August 25, 2005 in her home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Frankfort on January 21, 1937, the daughter of the late Andrew and Josephine Tubia Trippen. She attended Frankfort schools and later attended and graduated with the first graduating class of Herkimer County Manpower's Nursing Program in 1964. She was married to Francis Edward Bowman on November 27, 1954 in Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. Mr. Bowman passed away on July 6, 1977. Agnes was at one time employed as the Charge Nurse for Herkimer Memorial Hospital. She was later employed as a Supervisor and Charge Nurse for Valley Health Services, Herkimer for over 20 years of dedicated service to the residents and their families until her retirement in 2004. Agnes devoted 40 years of her life to nursing and gave the utmost care to all her patients. She was a Communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of Herkimer County Catholic Charities. She enjoyed cooking for her family especially Sunday dinner followed by a game of Scrabble. Agnes loved to fish and especially loved to go to the casino. One of her proudest moments was being at the birth of her newest grandson, Joseph "Joey" Cameron Bowman. Agnes is survived by one son & daughter in law, Francis Edward & Betty Bowman of Ilion; four daughters & two sons in law, Cindy Lee Bowman of New York Mills, Valerie & Kurt Hagen of Herkimer, Barbara & Tim Vanderwerken of Pittsford, NY and Kimberly Bowman of Frankfort; five sisters & three brothers in law, Carmelita Sgroi of Frankfort, Katherine Edgett of Herkimer, Joanne & Larry Dunadee of Webster, Geraldine & Dennis Olds of Frankfort and Teri Ann & Gregory Hight of Richfield Springs; her special friend, Mr. Cash; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two beloved canines, Pia & Chloe; and several inlaws, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her infant son, Francis Edward Bowman Jr. on March 27, 1955 and one sister, Phyllis Leogrande on July 20, 1994 and her two canines, Gandy & Mandy. Her funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm in the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and with the Rev. John Yanas, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Saturday from 4-8 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. In lieu of floral offerings, donations in Agnes' memory maybe made to the Agnes M. Bowman Nursing Scholorship Fund of Herkimer County Boces. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
