Mr. Thomas A. Pliszek Sr.
Ilion - Mr. Thomas A. Pliszek Sr., 87, of 65 Richfield St passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2004 peacefully in his home.
He was born in Herkimer on July 25, 1917, the son of the late Andrew and Amelia Kenner Pliszek and he attended Herkimer Schools. Tom served with the US Army during WWII with the 82nd Battalion in the European Theater as a Staff Sargeant and was Honorably Discharged on July 17, 1945. He was married to Pearl Wiliczka on May 4, 1946 in St. Joseph´s Church, Herkimer. He was at one time employed by Univac, Ilion Plant for many years. Mr. Pliszek Sr. was Machinist for Remington Arms for ten years until retirement his in 1982. Tom was the owner and operator of Little Tom´s Tavern, King St Herkimer for many years. He was a Communicant of Sts. Anthony And Joseph Church and a member of Knights Of Columbus Council #579 as a Third Degree Knight, Herkimer, a life member of V.F.W Post #4915, Herkimer and served as the Post Commander from 1947-1948, American Legion Post #920 Ilion and a life member of Herkimer Elks BPOE Lodge #1439, Herkimer.
Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Pearl Pliszek; one son & daughter in law, Thomas & Viola Pliszek Jr, Ilion; one daughter & son in law, Patricia & Sam Conde of Herkimer; two granddaughters, Jessica Conde and Stacey Conde and several in laws, neices, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Raymond Pliseck and one sister, Mary Pliseck.
His funeral will be held Saturday morning with full Military Honors at 10:30 AM from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 11:00 AM in Sts. Anthony And Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Friday from 4-8. at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Members of the following organizations will meet Friday evening, V.F.W at 6:00, the Knights Of Columbus at 6:30 and the Elks at 7:00 at the funeral home for services.
