Miss Ida E. Mierzwa
Frankfort - Miss Ida E. Mierzwa, 78, of 275 Daley Rd passed away Monday, October 11, 2004 in St. Luke´s Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Utica on October 8, 1926, the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Agatha Szczygiel Mierzwa. She was raised on Dutch Hill in Frankfort and attended Country School District 9 on Daley Rd. graduating in 1940. She later attended Proctor High School and graduated with the Class of 1944. Following her high school education she attended Utica State Hospital and received a degree as a Registered Nurse in 1947. Ida was employed by Utica State Hospital for many years and later at Utica Psychiatric Center, corner of York and Noyes St. as a teacher for the new employees at the center. She retired in 1983 after 39 years of service.
She was a Communicant of Sts. Anthony of Padua Church, Utica and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, picking blue berries, baking, cooking and helping out on the family farm.
Ida is survived her two beloved brothers and one sister in law, Charles & Genevive Mierzwa of Farmington, CT and Matthew Mierzwa of Frankfort Hill; her two nieces, Janet & her husband, Dennis Jendrzejewski and Audrey & her husband, Scott Daggett and her great niece, Sarah Lynn Daggett all of Unionville, CT and several cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 12:00 PM in St. Anthony Of Padua Church, St. Anthony St. Utica where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev Anthony La Fache. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort.
