Mr. John E. Brown Herkimer - John E. Brown, of Highland Avenue in Herkimer, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2017. Fondly known as Jackie Brown in his younger days, he was born on May 10, 1952 in Carthage, NY. Throughout his childhood, he lived in Herrings and Au Sable Forks before settling in Herkimer. After attending Herkimer High School, John worked for many years as an auto mechanic. For the past several years, he drove for Birnie Bus for the local schools. It was here that he met his beloved wife, Barbara, and the two were married on September 12, 2015. John was a simple man; he loved his family, hunting, NASCAR, and the Wizard of Oz. He also had a strong faith, spending Sunday mornings at The First Assembly of God in Marcy. John leaves behind his beloved wife, Barbara, his mother, Hilda, and his three children David and his wife, LuAnn Brown of Herkimer, Rebecca Brown of Herkimer, and Rachel and her husband, Earle Comstock of Newport; his sisters and brother in law, Patricia and Robert Douglas of Au Sable Forks and Susan DeRocco of Jacksonville, FL; three brothers and two sisters in law, Joseph Brown of Herkimer, Daniel and Pamela Brown of Herkimer and Timothy and Cheryl Brown of Monroe, NC; his in-laws Samuel DeRocco of Ilion, Denise Brown of Herkimer, Fay and Steve Pavlik of West Winfield, and Helen Evans of West Windfield. his beloved grandchildren, Brianna, David Jr., Amanda, Jason, Jacob, Cody, Lucas, Connor, and Emily, his step-children Amy and her husband, John Hoke, Justin and his wife, Kristen Mergenthaler; step-grandchildren Zoe, Mya, and Addison and several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Earl Brown, and his sister Mary Jane and her husband, Donald Simonette. John's memorial service will be held on Wednesday April 26, 2017 at 10:30 am at First Assembly of God Church, 9427 Maynard Dr., Marcy, NY with Pastor Tim Burns officiating.
