Obituary of Ronda Jean Valasek

Frankfort - Mrs. Ronda Jean Valasek, 45, of 120 E. Orchard St. passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. She was born in Utica on February 6, 1969, the daughter of the late Rosemary Kelsey and she attended T.R. Proctor High School, graduating with the class of 1987. She was married to Steven J. Valasek on May 29, 1992 in Utica. Ronda was an Assistant Librarian for Frankfort Free Library, Frankfort and volunteered at the Reese Road School Library. She was of the Methodist faith. She served as a Girl Scout Leader for 15 years and was a well-known manager for Tupperware and Avon. She will always be remembered for her hearty laugh that was loud, boisterous and it was unique to her. Ronda is survived by her husband, Steven J. Valasek; one daughter, Melody Rose Valasek, at home; one son, John David Valasek, at home; one brother and sister in law, William and Beth Kelsey of Utica; one sister and brother in law, Lisa and Nick LaMonica of Westmoreland; her father in law and mother in law, David and Geraldine Valasek of Herkimer; her in laws, Ellen and Stephen Marra and Paul and Courtney Valasek; her special friends, Brenda and Chip DeJohn, special friend and God Father to her children Kevin Raux and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, William Gladstone Hummiston. Her funeral will be held Friday morning at 10:00 AM from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort by the Rev. Eugene Kipper. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, February 5th from 5-7 PM in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Ronda's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Doctors, Nurses and staff of St. Luke's Memorial Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion shown to her during her illness and passing.
