He attended schools in Italy and Seminary in Calabria. The couple came to the United States in 1951 and settled in the Mohawk Valley. He attended Millbury College and Syracuse University where he majored in Language. He was a Missionary Preacher throughout the Mohawk Valley and surrounding areas. He was the Editor of the Il Faro (The Lighthouse Magazine) and hosted the weekly Italian radio program La Voce Della Speranza (The Voice of Hope.) He served as an Italian to English translator throughout the area. Rev. Scalzi wrote a book about his in both Italian and was later translated into English, Incontro Con Dio (My Encounter With God.) Rev. Scalzi was a member of Emmanuel House of Prayer, the Retired Teachers Association, the Christian Church of North America. Rev. Scalzi's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Valley Health Services for the wonderful care and kindness shown to him during his stay and passing.
