Obituary of Carol May Doolen

Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mother - Wife - Grandmother - Sister - Friend Glen Allen, VA - Frankfort - Carol May Doolen, 57, of Glen Allen, VA, left this world on Monday, June 16th after her battle with breast cancer came to an end. Her caring and generous nature touched many lives and leaves an immense void for those individuals that were closest to her. She was born on Christmas Day, 1956 in Hudson, NY, the daughter of the late Henry and Norma Ives Weed. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Albert Doolen. Their love for each other - while found later in life - was strong and constant. Where you saw Carol, you can be sure that Albert was close by. They did everything together and were inseparable. Their commitment to one another blended two families, giving them ten children of varying ages and personalities. Carol, along with her husband, Albert owned C & C Cullet Scrap Metal Recycling Center in Ashland, VA. She enjoyed the day-to-day activities of her business and was very involved in the well-being and happiness of her employees. While her management style was very laid back, her work ethic was unyielding. It was this tenacious attitude that propelled her past her very humble beginnings. Carol's unassuming nature prompted her to always help a person out; always give the benefit of the doubt; always forgive. She gave to many charities and donated to causes that were important to her. While there is no church or religious affiliation to mention - there is sometimes no need. She lived by example. Besides her beloved husband, she is survived by her daughters, Alicia Davis, Kelli (Davis) Smith, Amanda (McGee) Greene, Terri McGee, Rachel Doolen, Melody (Goodenow) Doolen, Amanda Doolen, Rachael Goodenow and sons, Albert Doolen, Jr, and Richard Goodenow III. She is also survived by her sister Helen Sanders and brother-in-law John Sanders, her lifelong adopted son, Charles (C.B.) Brooks, and mother-in-law Joyce Doolen. Her children blessed her with 15 grandchildren to love and spoil: Zach, Ava, Bella, KJ, Lily, Jasmine, Easton, Avery, Austin, Hailey, Aubrey, Sean, Amelia, Owen, and Autumn. She was also awaiting the arrival of twins. She leaves behind many other in-laws and friends as well. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Weed and mother, Norma (Ives) Weed. She lost her beloved sister, Terry Weed four years ago to brain cancer. Her funeral will be held Friday morning at 9:30 AM in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave. Frankfort, with the Rev. Robert Wollaber, officiating. Interment will follow in Frankfort Center Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday evening from 4-8 PM in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Carol believed wholeheartedly in the idea of "pay it forward." Please be true to her memory by doing the same when you are able. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on Carol's online memorial page by going to www.iocovozzifuneralhomes.com
