In the spring of 1978 before we graduated high school, we went on our senior class trip. We actually went to Orlando, Florida. Vince Iocovozzi, Jimmy, and I shared a room. After landing at the airport, we took a few vans from the airport to our hotel. As we are getting close to the hotel, we start scoping out the nearest store to buy "supplies." As fate would have it, there is a 7/11 about a mile away from the hotel.
The vans drop us off at the hotel, we bring our bags into our room, and immediately, Jimmy and I take off for the 7/11. We took a short cut across this big field and jogged to the store trying to avoid any detection by our chaperones. We get to the store, and we load up with as much liquid refreshments that we could carry. Jimmy was amazed that they did not have Genny in Florida! We left the store with multiple bags of beer and booze, each carrying as many bags as we could. Again, we jogged across this big grassy field trying to sneak back into the hotel without detection. We must have been quite a site running through a field in Florida with arms filled with bags of booze!
We stopped outside the entrance, and put down the goods so Jimmy could make sure the coast was clear before we made our way back into our room. The coast was clear... Jimmy came out to get me, and we scampered into our room with all our stuff. We set up our bathroom like it was a bar. All the beer went into the tub, that we filled with ice, and the sink and top of the toilet served as the bar for the booze. We really didn't think that through too well because we basically rendered our bathroom useless except for drinking. Needless to say, our room was the most visited room in the hotel.
We quickly found out that our little trip across the field did not go undetected. We were busted by our chaperones. A couple of those great chaperones, who will go un-named, pretended to "deal with us" when they actually paid us many visits to share our hospitality. Here's to you Jimmy. Always the life of the party.

In keeping Jimmy's memory alive... another fond memory of our friend. Back in the day when it was time for senior pictures, we didn't go hire some fancy photographer to snap our pictures. Vardens Studios (I think) came to the school and took all head shots for the yearbook. After taking our photos, they would come back and make us pick one out of the few shots that they took, then we could buy what ever package of pics we wanted. Well, when they came back to the school to sell us our packages, they set up a little display at a table and made appointments with us to pick our shots and pay for our packages. As fate would have it, they had a framed 11"x16" photo of me out on the table as a display of the great work they did. Everyone was telling me that my picture was being used as the display shot. When I eventually got around to stopping by their table to see what everyone was talking about, I didn't see any display of me. I was told it was gone! Someone stole it! Guess who? Yep, Jimmy asked someone, I think it was Joe Maneen to cause a distraction and Jimmy swiped the picture of me and gave it to me at the end of the day. I can see Maneen leaning his big body over the table to shield their view while Jimmy took the picture. That picture is still hanging on the wall at my mother's house today! Thanks again Jimmy.

Claire and I were sorry to hear of Jimmy's untimely passing. He was a close friend through all the school years and we shared many unforgettable memories. It was always good to get together for class reunions after school years ended, but will always regret not getting together more. Jimmy always looked out for his friends and he was someone you definitely wanted on your side. He was always the life of the party and will never forget the pre-game ritual at the "Playboy Palace"...it was unconventional but effective since we won a football league championship that year. He was a tremendous leader on and off the field and possessed the swagger and confidence of his beloved Joe "Willie" Namath. Not sure how many people remember that he started at quarterback and middle linebacker his senior year....a very rare combination...he was tough. Jimmy...thanks for all the great memories.

Chibs, how many stories can we tell? I am so sorry that we lost our good friend so young. I ask that our gang to always tell those stories to keep his memory alive. I know I spent most of the weekend telling my kids only some of the things we did. Those are great memories of some great times. Condolences to his family and also to all of us who lost a great friend.

So sad with the loss of our fearless leader. A one of a kind friend who always had our backs. One of the lasting moments we shared together. And all of us have so many stories to tell. It was the Friday night before our championship football game with Mohawk. We were riding around together as we always did. We were talking about the game and how the winner was going to be the CVC Champions. I said to Jimmy, "My God... what if we lose?!" Jimmy looked at me with that smile on his face and said, "Bells... we ain't gonna lose." I looked back at him and said... "Oh, OK." The next day, we were champions. That is the kind of leader he was. We will miss you old friend.

Many memories of Jimmy and to many to list...Truly he was a unique and one not to be duplicated. He left town like some of us at an early age and made a future in a new state.
55 years is not a long life but with the time he had he made many memories with alot of people. I am sure that I will see him again just in a different place.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his brother and sisters and his family.

Many a story of my childhood started off with me trying to describe Jimmy. I came to appreciate the fact that one just can't describe Jimmy to someone that didn't know him.
A truly unique person... One of the wildest and funniest people I have ever met- ALWAYS had a shenanigan of some sort in the works!
I will always remember times at "the playboy palace", and rides in the convertible.
I feel blessed to have known him and to have called him a friend. May family and friends find solace in the comfort of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
