Utica - Mr. Wade Harvey Graves, 67, of 1106 Maple St. passed away Friday, July 12, 2013 in VA Hospital, Cleveland, OH with his family by his side.
He was born in Cleveland, OH on April 8, 1946, the son of the late Floyd and Gladys Walser Graves and he attended schools there and later East Tech High, Cleveland OH. He served with the US Army during the Vietnam War and was Honorably Discharged on July 25,1967. He was at one time employed as a rail installer for the Railroad; worked at Pettibone, Rome; as a Purchaser for Univac, Ilion Lumber, as an installer for IMI, KY and lastly for Rolling Star Manufacturing, Barnevald. He was the co-owner owner and operator of Cindy's Palace, Bleecker St., Utica for many years. His greatest love was being a self-employed carpenter throughout the area.
Wade has been in recovery since April 1, 1987 and was recognized at Mohawk and Midstate Correction for his volunteer work bringing AA and NA to the facilities for over 14 years. Wade had a love for studying the scripture and was well versed. He loved helping young men and women reach their potential and was instrumental in Camp Youth Upgrade, Genesee St., Peewee Boxing, Rome and the 700 Club on Court St.
Wade is survived by his companion, Tarita Mills of Utica; one son and daughter in law, Wade H. And Sonya Graves of Cleveland, OH; three daughters and one son in law, Wanda Marie and Eric Thomas of Cleveland, OH, Valetta Bradford of Milwaukee, WI, and T'Shobi Hardy of Cleveland, OH; two brothers and one sister in law, Oliver and Anne Graves of Denver, CO and Adrian Graves of Cleveland, OH; twenty grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers, George Graves, Floyd Graves and Lavon Graves and one sister, Mildred William/Lane
His funeral will be held at the convenience of the family from the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave. Frankfort.
