I first met Sid in the summer of 2010, and believe that he was a true blessing that was given to my mother, Mary Cushman, at a chapter in her life that was sad and lonely. He was truly "heaven sent". Only God could have brought them together after nearly 70 years, both having been married with spouses passing away. It was just by chance alone that they were reconnected, God's hand at work for sure. I believe their lives were extended by their deep caring for each other, sharing in family events together, and fun times. She always spoke of so many wonderful times, a highlight being the Ordination of Sid's Great-nephew in Albany. . Each day became something to look forward to, Sid's family treated my mother so well, including her in gatherings, and she did the same at her little house in Mohawk. I will be forever grateful for those nearly 10 years they spent sharing time together ~ I realized the extent of their devotion to each other in reading some of the beautiful cards that my mother had saved from birthdays and holidays in sorting through her things after her passing on 3/27/19. Even then, Sid was there for her, our hero of that fateful day. I will be forever grateful to Sid, his wonderful family, especially Teresa, who did so much for my mother, she was and will be a very special friend to me always. Sid will live on in many ways and in many hearts, never to be forgotten for the giving life he lived, his deep faith, and also his service to his country. Rest in Peace, Sid, your job on earth well done. RoseMarie Light
