Mr. Joseph James Tocco
The Villages, FL- Mr. Joseph James Tocco, 91, passed away peacefully, Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 11:11 AM with his daughters by his side. He had been living in the Villages, Florida with his beautiful and devoted wife, Beatrice, daughter, Jamie, family dog, Bella and close by daughter Francine for the past 3 years. He enjoyed riding his electric tricycle to go fishing daily, doing jigsaw puzzles, fill in books, buying his weekly scratch off tickets and mostly spending time with his loving family. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh. He was an avid Jeopardy fan.
He was born in Frankfort on April 18, 1931, the son of the late James and Frances Maneen Tocco and attended Frankfort schools. He enlisted in the US Army on September 5, 1949, serving in Korea during the Korean War. He was Honorable Discharged on October 1, 1952, receiving 4 Bronze Service Stars. He was a war hero. Joe was united in marriage to Beatrice Loiacano on October 3, 1953 in St. Mary’s Church, Frankfort by Reverend Michael Fuffard. A blessed union of almost 69 years of marriage.
Throughout his career, he was employed by Gerber Baby Foods, Sherman Williams Paint, Spohn’s Disposal Service, Remington Arms and the US Post Office from which he retired. During his retirement he also worked at American Greetings. Along with his wife, Bea, they owned and operated Joe’s News and Variety Store, Frankfort for 14 years.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Beatrice; two daughters, Francine Tocco and Jamie Ferguson; one son and daughter in law, Dominic and his wife, Susan (Lockwood) Tocco; his grandchildren, Courtney Ferguson and Alan Isenstadt, Zachary Tocco and Dillon Tocco and his fiancé, Taylor O’Brien; two brothers in law, Richard Malmgren and Joseph Bello and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph Tocco Jr.; his parents; in laws, Dominick and Mamie Loiacano; his son in law, Darryl Ferguson; infant grandson, Darryl Ferguson, Jr.; sister, Florence Malmgren, brother and sister in law, Sam and Geri Tocco; nieces, Mary Margaret DellaPosta and Jodi Lee Lunsford.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 9:45 from the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave., Frankfort and at 10:30 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church 412 S. Frankfort ST. Frankfort, NY where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena, pastor. His mass will be live streamed on you tube link https://youtu.be/c_zExXOSZRQ
Interment will be in Mt Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, September 13 from 2-5PM at the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.
