Christopher Joseph Giambrone

FRANKFORT - Christopher Joseph Giambrone, 74, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.

He was born in Ilion, New York on September 20, 1948, the son of the late Salvatore Giambrone and Eileen Tangorra.

Chris was a graduate of Frankfort-Schuyler High School, where he met the love of his life, Concetta Marie Palumbo.  They were married on September 12, 1970 in St. Mary's Church.

Chris began his working years with Chicago Pneumatic on Bleeker Street in Utica but soon enough would follow his true passion. Chris was a master craftsman, logging much time in his woodshop over the years.  He co-founded C&C Crafts, LLC in the early 1980’s along with his bride and so began their family business for the next 30 years.  Annually during lent, they would craft the most beautiful palm crosses, angels, and monstrances that became so coveted each year.

Chris was also a well-known painter that was in high demand for the several years he spent doing so.  He found fulfillment in his volunteer time with the Frankfort Fire Department and Ambulance Corps.

Chris was a devout Catholic and Communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church.

He was a staple in the community, known by all as the consummate family man with his ever-present self-deprecating humor.  His authenticity with others was immediately felt after just a few minutes in talking with him.  Chris was a very organized man, who always had to be prepared well in advance for trips, excursions and the like.

He was known among friends for his dance moves, often admired at celebratory events for bringing energy to the dance floor. Chris always enjoyed a well-written movie and appreciated music, particularly the voices of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Paul Anka.  You didn’t have to press too hard to have him join you in a friendly game of pitch or poker or even a quick run to the Turning Stone.

But above all, Chris’ 10 grandchildren were his pride and joy. You could find him often at their many sports games and was always sharing life lessons with each of them individually.  He was always available for them and more importantly, each of them knew that.

Chris is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Connie Giambrone;  his four children, Lori (Mike) Cook of Frankfort, Chris (Bre’) Giambrone of New Hartford, Mike (Nicole) Giambrone of Marcy, and Gina (Matt) McLean of Ilion.  He leaves ten cherished grandchildren, Michael, Ryan & Brandon Cook, Chase & Ashton Giambrone, Jack & Michael Giambrone, Giana, Mattisyn & Maci McLean.  He also leaves one sister, Christine (Bruce) Sarfaty of Rochester, one brother Salvatore (Linda) Giambrone of Utah; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Tom & Mary Ann Marine of Clinton, brother-in-law Paul Palumbo of Frankfort, nieces Melinda (Carl) Vogel of Whitesboro, Adrienne (Michael) Loiacano of Whitesboro, Justin (Muriel) Palumbo of Ilion, close friends Joe (Denise) Bellino & Fran (Fran) Nicastro.  He was pre-deceased by his in laws, Charles and Josephine Palumbo; his nephew, Joseph Sciortino of Rochester.  Chris also leaves behind many extended family members and friends.

Chris’ funeral will be held on Saturday morning, February 18 at 9:45am from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave, Frankfort and at 10:30am in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev.
