James N. Alsante
Frankfort - James N. Alsante, 81, of Frankfort passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023 in Lutheran Home, Clinton with his family by his side.
He was born in Utica, New York on May 26, 1942, the son of the late James R. and Carmela Sinardo Alsante. He attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort Schuyler High School with the class of 1961. He was married to Rosalie Barretta on July 17, 1965 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. He served with the US Army in the Big Red One during the Vietnam War and was Honorably Discharged on April 5, 1970. Jim was the Highway Superintendent for the Town Of Frankfort for 35 years and was at one time the owner of Thurston’s Restaurant, Frankfort. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Apostles Church and a member of St. Francis Society, The American Legion Post 845 and a Life member of VFW 502.
Jim’s love of golf, made him look forward to always saying “he’s going to play golf in the sky”. He enjoyed going to dinner, dancing (boogieing up the night) playing poker and especially watching his favorite football team, the Washington Redskins.
James is survived by his wife, Rosalie Alsante of Frankfort; two sons and daughters in law, James and Karen Alsante of Old Saybrook, CT. and Michael Alsante of Fort Myers, FL; one daughter and son in law, Alicia and her husband, Don Gatto of Frankfort; his cherished grandchildren, Markie Alexis Burr, Matthew Alsante, Nikolas Alsante, Kristina Alsante, Nicole Alsante and Donnie Gatto; several nieces, nephews and cousins and his lifelong friends and neighbors the Branck family. We will be forever grateful for all his close friends who stayed with him throughout his illness. He was predeceased by his brother, Jerome Alsante on October 19, 1998 and his sister, Santa Rose Coveleski on August 3, 2022 of Mohawk.
His funeral will be held Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort with the Rev. Paul Catena, officiating. Calling hours will be Thursday, October 26 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave., Frankfort.
Jim’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Lutheran Nursing home for the wonderful care and compassion shown to him during his stay and passing.
