Obituary of Vincent Peter Ocuto
Vincent Peter Ocuto (Jim) Born July 1st, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Albert N. Ocuto and Rose D’Ambrose Ocuto passed on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, in Naples, Florida, with his family by his side.
Jim was married to Carol Sanita Ocuto in 1964, and they have two wonderful children, Kimberly Ocuto Gurley (Dan Gurley) and Jamie Ocuto (Rachel Clapper); grandson William Gurley, the joy of his life, who he taught to fish, spending many happy hours on the pond and fishing the wrecks in the Gulf of Mexico.
Jim is survived by his wife Carol, children, grandson, brother Albert P. Ocuto (Gloria), brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Linda Sanita, sister-in-law Mary Ellen Ocuto, many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends in New York, as well as many more good friends in Florida.
He was predeceased by his parents, mother-in-law, and father-in-law, Mark J. Sanita and Antoinette Gigliotti Sanita, brother Steven Ocuto and brother and sister-in-law Francis Sanita and Louise Sanita, and his very best friend Emil Pansa.
Jim started his businesses in 1967, Ocuto Blacktop Paving Co., Inc. and Alliance Paving Materials, Inc. and continued to operate them with his children. He was an incredibly hard-working individual and worried about everyone around him. Jim was extremely generous with all of his blessings and gladly helped anyone in need. His family and friends will miss him deeply.
Jim loved racing his Mazda Miatas at Lime Rock, Sebring, W. Virginia, Mid-Ohio and his favorite track, Watkins Glen. In 1990, he was SSB NE Divisional Champion (showroom stock) breaking a track record at Lime Rock, CT.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 16th, 10:30am at St. Peter’s Church, 200 North James Street, Rome, NY 13440. Spring interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. Please no flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Peter’s Church Memorial Window Fund, 200 North James Street, Rome, NY 13440 or St. Anthony and Joseph's Church, 228 S. Main St, Herkimer, NY 13350.
His funeral arrangements are under the direction of the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc, Frankfort, NY.
