Mrs.Whitney you will be missed by everyone. I remember English class with you and many many evenings of pep club work. I really enjoyed being in your class and you have taught us all so much. I just had the pleasure of seeing you in December, sadly in your last stages of the battle, but right away I knew who you were. I was sitting in the angel wing at Dr.Butalas office myself and I kept thinking how beautiful this place was and how they made it so comfortable for people with cancer..I felt after years of being scared to die that this place made people feel alot more at ease..I never felt that way before. And to hear of your passing was so sad..I felt like I just seen you yesterday.I wish we had more time. But GOD decides for us when he needs us to be with him.. You are missed and may you rest in peace in GODS arms..

I wish to extend my deepest sympathies to all of you and your families. I was a student when your dad was principal at Northside and your mom was a good friend of my mom with the garden club and many other organizations. Last I saw her was my mom's wake in 2006. I no longer live in the valley, butI remember your mom being the sweetest of women, with a great heart and wonderful soul. She is now with your dad and my mom and i'm sure they are singing up a storm and planting beautiful flowers everywhere! They may not be here on earth, but their presence is always around. They will always watch over us and we will always feel their love!

To the Whitney Family: Mrs. Whitney was our English teacher in our senior year at HHS She was one of the kindest, sweetest, patient, people we have ever known. We enjoyed having her as a teacher as well as visiting with her in later years when crossing paths around the valley--even after more than 20 years she still remembered us! Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Paul and Family, I was so saddened to learn of your mom's passing last week. Her dedication to her students and her supreme patience is evident from reading what some of her former students have said about her. Barb was an inspiration to all of us at HHS. She always had a smile on her face and a good word to say no matter what kind of difficulty she was facing. She will be truly missed. I feel lucky to have known her and work along side of her for so many years at HHS. I also am in Florida and will miss the services, but will be thinking of you all. May she rest in peace.

Mrs. Whitney was one of my favorite teachers at HHS. She was always so kind and generous. Even when the boys would give her a hard time, she still always had a smile! I spent many study halls in her room, making signs for the pep club. We had many conversations during those times and she was always so encouraging. She will always hold a special place with me.

I was greatly saddened to read about Barbara's death. All day I've thought of little else, despite going through the mundane routines of life. I can't imagine that I'll have the words commensurate with my great respect and admiration for Barbara. In her passing we have all lost a wonderful person; I have lost someone I was privileged to call a friend. With both George's illness and then her own, life had given Barbara some tremendous tests of courage and character. For her, they became testaments to her high level of each. She was quietly, steadfastly, strong. She had an absolute love of her children and spoke of them admiringly; her grandchildren she referenced with nothing less than adoration. Barbara was a marvelous colleague at HHS; I so often appreciated her wisdom and patience. She was the truest of educators: no matter what the assignment she worked at it diligently.
Barbara, thank you for that wonderful hug at the 2009 HHS faculty Christmas party. Wish we'd had more of a chance to talk, especially to say "good-by". I thought that you started to tell me something.......
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and encouragement ; your insight and intelligence. I miss you already!

Mrs. Whitney was my high school french teacher in '98. She put up with our freshman antics in class & was always such a sweet and patient person.
