New Hartford -Mr. Arthur Edward Mosseau, 81, of New Hartford passed away Friday, January 1, 2010 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Ilion on September 30, 1928, the son of the late Allie and Rose Miller Mosseau. He attended Utica schools and graduated from Utica Free Academy with the class of 1948. Arthur served with the US Army during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged on October 26, 1952 with the rank of Corporal. He was married to Alma Engler on August 30, 1958 in Oneida, NY. Mrs. Mosseau passed away on April 14, 1992. Mr. Mosseau was employed by Sealtest and later for Darilea Utica, NY until his retirement after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Teamsters. Art was an accomplished trumpet player from grade school until later in life. He played in local bands in the late 1940's and in the American Legion Drum Corps for many years.
Arthur is survived by his son, Matthew Mosseau of Utica; two brothers and sisters in law, Richard and Bea Mosseau of Mohawk and Clifford and Anna Mosseau of Fonda; his cousins, Doris Lewis of Herkimer, Nancy Stefanec of Richfield Springs and Carol And Tom Nolan of Sebring, FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 PM in the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer with the Rev. Chris Schumske of Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 11:00 - 1:00 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home.
