Obituary of Francis Frank Talarico

Mr. Francis "Frank" Talarico Herkimer - Mr. Francis R. "Frank" Talarico, 82, of 723 W. Walnut St. passed away Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Folts Home with his family by his side. He was born in Herkimer on September 17, 1933, the son of the late Ralph F. and Mary Bommarito Talarico. He attended Herkimer schools and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1952. He attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan before serving with the US Army during the Korean War where he was Honorably Discharged in 1956. He then attended and graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics in 1958. Frank and Diane Stigall were married on June 8, 1957 in St. Agnes Church, Memphis, Tennessee. Frank was the Co-Owner and Operator of Talsons Construction Co, with his brother Ralph and a partner in Talarico-Talson's J.V., all of Herkimer for many years. He was a communicant of St. Francis De Sales Church and served on the parish council. He was also a member of St. Anthony's Crusaders, Herkimer Elks BPOE Lodge #1439 and served as a Village of Herkimer Trustee. He was a member and served on the boards of the Oriska Insurance, Association of General Contractors of America and the Open Shop Contractors. Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Talarico; one daughter and son in law, Karen and Paul Giery of Dover, DE; one son and daughter in law, Terry and Clare Talarico of Charlotte, NC; two brothers and two sister in laws, Ronald J. Talarico of Albany, Dennis and Noreen Talarico of Cortland; and Doris Talarico of Herkimer, his mother in law, Marcelle Stigall of Memphis, TN., sister in law Cheryl and Don Johnson of Collierville, TN., brother in law, Terry and Sandra Stigall of Murfreesboro, TN., four grandchildren, Matthew and his wife, Roderica Giery, Patrick and his wife Natalia Giery, Kari and her husband, Stephan O'Reilly and Leigh Talarico; three great-grandchildren, Daniel O'Reilly, Matthew Giery Jr and Leighla Giery and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Ralph R. Talarico and his father in law Terry H. Stigall. His funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 AM in St. Francis De Sales Church, N. Bellinger St. Herkimer where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Mark Cunningham. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, October 26 from 4-8 at Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer. The family would like to thank the Folts Home staff for the caring and compassion shown to Frank and his family; as well as the Herkimer Fire-Rescue Team for the assistance provided on numerous occasions.
