Utica - Frankfort - Mr.Frank Joseph Reina, 79, of Utica formerly of Frankfort passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 31, 2009 in Boston Medical Center with his family by his side.
He was born in Frankfort on August 13, 1930, the son of the late Frank and Sophie Bono Reina. Frank attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort High School with the class of 1948. He served during the Korean War with the US Army and was Honorably Discharged on November 20, 1953 with the rank of Sergeant. Frank married his high school sweetheart, Muriel L. Krick on August 26, 1950 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Muriel passed away on May 3, 1981. He was later married to Lucy Montanarelli Di Pierro on June 10, 1990 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church. Mr. Reina was employed as Foreman for Univac and later Mohawk Data Science, Herkimer for many years. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church. He was a former member of the American Legion Post #845, Frankfort, Ilion Elks BPOE Lodge #1444, Ilion, Frankfort Little League, Frankfort Fish and Game Club and the Management Club of Univac and MDS and Addolorata Society, Frankfort. Frank played all sports while at Frankfort High School. He played basketball for Terzo's Chief and in the Utica MUNY League. He also played semi pro baseball and with the Frankfort Vets Semi Pro Football team. He was one of the founders of Frankfort Youth Association.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Lucy Reina; two sons & daughters in law, Robert & Mary Reina of Frankfort and Ronald & Karen Reina of Deerfield; two daughters and sons in law, Susan & James Drake of New Hartford and Sharon & Thomas Geer of Schuyler; his step son, Michael & his wife, Debbie Di Pierro of Raleigh, NC; his grandchildren, Andrew Reina, Alexandra Reina and her fiancee, Michael Farrell, Samantha Drake, James Drake, Ryan Drake, Amanda Miles, Tyler Miles, Daniel Reina, Rachel Reina, Michael Di Pierro, Matthew Di Pierro, Courtney and her husband, John Dreimiller and Meredith and her husband, Joseph O'Brien; one brother & sister in law, Angelo & Frances Reina of Frankfort; his in laws, Doris & Sonny Brown, Richard & Dorothy Krick, Linda Krick, Ray & Lorraine Montanarelli and Eleanor & Joseph Tamburro and several cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister & brother in law, Mamie & Dominick "Smokey" Lille, two brothers & one sister in law, Sam & Virginia Reina and Joseph Reina, his mother in law & father in law, Harold & Iva Krick and two brothers in law, Don Krick and Ray Krick
His funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 AM from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Alfred Lamanna, pastor emeritus and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full military honors. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-8 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Contributions in Frank's memory maybe made to the Frank J. Reina Scholarship Fund c/o Frankfort Schuyler High School, Palmer St., Frankfort, NY 13340. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
