Obituary of Bessie Aiello Pelose

Frankfort - Mrs. Bessie Aiello Pelose, 91, of 405 Palmer St passed away Saturday, August 30, 2008 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital. She was born in Frankfort on May 7, 1917, the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Francesca Catalina Aiello and she attended Frankfort schools. Bessie later attended Modern Beauty School and Bruno's Hair Study in Canada. She received advanced courses at BOCES, Herkimer and Utica. She was married to James A. Pelose on November 30, 1940 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Mr. Pelose passed away on February 21, 1984. Bessie was at one time employed by General Electric, Herkimer County Cheese and later at the Elite Corp, Ilion for over 30 years of service. She also was the owner and operator of Bessie's Beauty Salon, Frankfort. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the Columbiana Society and the Valley Kittens Red Hat Society. Bessie was a past President of the Christian Mothers Club, taught Sunday School at the former St. Mary's Church, was one of the organizers of today's PTO, and served as President of the first Tuesday Night Bowling League at Thurston's. She was a Girl Scout Leader and worked at the Canteen for the American Red Cross. She loved to play golf and bowl in which she had won many trophies, dance, and travel both abroad and in Florida. She loved to go to the casino especially the Mohican Sun. Bessie is survived by her beloved daughter, Prudy Laura of Frankfort; her cherished grandsons, Michael & his wife, Diane Altamuro of Mahwah, NJ, Paul Altamuro of Key West, FL and Joseph & his wife, Stacey Laura of Chester, NY; her great grandchildren whom she loved dearly and were the applies of her eyes, Michael W. Altamuro, Danielle Altamuro, A. J. Laura and Jake Laura; her in laws, Antoinette Pianella of Frankfort, Sophie Pelose of Rome and Paul Conigliaro of Rochester and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her son in law, Manny Laura on April 23,1991; her granddaughter, Jamie Carter on January 28, 2005 three brothers, Michael "Mickey" Aiello, Anthony " Nan" Aiello and James Aiello and two sisters, Mary Lombardo and Anna Luggerio. Her funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and 10:00 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Barratt. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-8 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.
