Today you would be 85. Wow, where has time gone. I learned a lot from you even though we had our differences and you may not have liked my choices I still am proud to be your grandson. Maybe we'll meet again?

Daddy, A whole year has gone by. That just doesn't seem possible. Even though you aren't with us, you are on everyone's mind. So much has happened in a year. Adam and Amy have a new baby named Noah. He's beautiful. Jake and Abby are talking, running and adorable. Nick and James went to the playoffs in little league. They are getting so tall and they are both so smart. JJ just moved into a new apartment in Boston and Brian left Germany and is stationed in Ohio. I finally made that trip to Europe that I always wanted to take because of you. It was great. I don't quite know why I'm telling you all this because you already know. Anyway...we miss you. I miss you. I hope you like that song I sing to you. I love you. Susie

My friends all use the past tense when they speak of you
And so to make them comfortable I use it too
They'd soon have me committed if they only knew
What I believe with all my heart is true.
I know you're there
Although it's nothing I can prove
I know you're there
By just the way the shadows move
And though I said good bye and finally let you go
I know you're there
Although I don't know how I know
I know you see
The crazy things I sometimes do
They make you laugh
So I still do them just for you
And when I'm entertaining all the friends I love
I know you see and that you're laughing from above.
You needn't panic, I'm consulting any guru
Calling psychics or practicing with voodoo
I'm not manic, or depressive
I just miss you.....
So I'll go on
Enjoying every lovely day
Because I'm sure
You would have wanted it that way
And when there's sorrow it's no more than I can bear
Because you are,
And always were,
And always will be.......
There
I love you Daddy, Susie

Dad,
Your favorite holiday of all is here. Everyone will be together this year...but then you know that. We will be thinking of you, especially today. We will have shrimp and everyone will get a tangerine. It's a mighty fine tree. Merry Christmas Daddy. I love you.

Daddy,
It's been a month already. I can't believe it. Life goes on as usual, but there is an empty space where you should be. The twins will be having their first birthday in a couple of weeks. I know that you'll be there with us in spirit. I talk to you all the time. I hope you can hear me. I miss you. I love you.

I loved Grandpa very much. I never expected him to be the first in my immediate family to pass on. He was always the jokester. No matter how many times he said his one liners, puns or limmericks...he always had me in stitches.
Sure there were guys like Robin Williams and Jim Carrey but the person that influenced me the most was my Grandpa.
At the wake and the funeral it was somber. But in all, warm and pleasant memories were exchanged. I was smiling because I knew what a great man he was. He was truly an inspiration.
When I saw him in the hospital...he lost all function on his right side. He was non responsive. But I know he knew I was there. He made a noise. I told him a joke. I am glad he could see me even in the condition he was in.
I'll remember him as always be the jovial, jolly "Santa Claus" type guy. He had a warm heart and a firm strong handshake. A grip I am sure only Superman could match.
He was the proverbrial thorne in Grandmas side. (I'm joking Grandma). Always joking and making fun. Doing "the Grandma voice". You two reminded me of the Costanzas...or The Barrones. It was the cutest relationship I've ever seen.
Jim Carrey said in his movie "Bruce Almighty" "Behind every great man...there's a woman rolling their eyes". Nothing more true could be said. Grandpa is that great man...and you definitely rolled your eyes a number of times. I can see why you two lasted 52 years. Love is what makes the world go round and helps us survive in times of crisis.
I was glad to be there for you. I was honored to be a Palbearer. I was glad to have recieved one of his rings. (It fits like a glove).
I love you Grandpa Morton. Rest assured your humor is in good hands. Your spirit lives on through all of us. Plus, I wrote down most of your jokes, puns, dirty limmericks.
Grandpa...I miss you. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the birthday parties will never be the same. I am glad you told me one liners while I was cradled in your arms when I was an infant.
I shall see you again when I get up there Ol Paint.
Thank you for all you've given me.
Love,
JJ

To all the Mortons,
I have very fond memories of this wonderful man. One in particular was how he let me, my brother and Steve have the run of the Remington School gym to play "dunk ball" and waste our Super 8 film on what we thought at the time was going to be the next famous Saturday Night Live skit! Mr. Morton (and all of you) always welcomed us into your home. The jokes were always flying and the laughter was ever present. Though the years have separated us all, the memories remain as fresh as if they were yesterday. I count myself lucky to have known your Dad... and your family. Really, one of the closest and nicest families I had the good fortune to know. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. I know my Mom has given him a nice welcome. Take comfort that we will all be with those we love again one day. What a reunion it will be! Sincerely, Mike Cunningham

I was really saddened to hear of the loss of Ray Morton. I have many fond memories of the whole family having grown up right across the street. May you find comfort in God's loving embrace in your time of need.I will always remember Ray as a man I could look up to...he was tall! He was an interesting guy who demonstrated what it meant to be a "family man" I always admired the Morton family unity as it was lead by a great man.
Your family remains close to my heart-

Dear Grandpa, our time together was short, but, wonderful. We delighted at the sweet words you whispered our way and we loved falling asleep in your gentle arms. We won't soon forget that big, warm smile that would greet us every time we'd visit. Your love for us was undeniable. Though you are gone now, we will keep your spirit alive through stories, pictures, and video as we grow up and hold our memories close to our hearts. Thank you for touching our lives Grandpa.

I cried when my sister called to tell me about your loss. I have never known a more patriotic, tough, and loveable man as your husband/Dad/Grandfather. My life is full of memories of "Bones" and your family. There have never been better neighbors. I know that you will "circle the wagons" and hold tight to eachother. For this, I take comfort. Take care of your Mom, my heart hurts for her. I pray for you all.

He was the proud owner of "Morton's Front Page News" for 8 years. Many may remember Ray for his love of Big Band music and his radio show "Ray's Rendevous" on WYUT in Herkimer, "The music of your life" station. Ray was extremely patriotic. he loved his country dearly and displayed the American flag with great pride and filled his home with the symbol of freedom, the American bald eagle. He was a loving husband and father and took particular joy in his grandchildren, attending every sporting event, piano recital and school function. His great passions of life were Alan Ladd, John Wayne and Emeril LaGasse and the New York Yankees.
The Morton family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, especilly Dr. V. Sharma for his kindness and tender care, Dr. Aiello & Dr. Farkouh. All the nurses of 3C, 3B & Special Care, especially Frank & Valerie Fessia, Darlene Gubager and Pat from the transport department. Your visits, kind words and prayers will always be with us.
