Frankfort-Mrs. Lydia Salamone of 107 Cemetery St. passed away Monday, July 23, 2007 in University Hospital, Syracuse. Lydia was born in Herkimer on May 9, 1932, the daughter of the late Raymond and Domenica Testa Franco. While in her youth, Lydia attended Herkimer Schools and graduated from Herkimer High School. On February 15, 1958, Lydia was married to Stephen Salamone in St. Anthony's Church, Herkimer. At one time Lydia was employed by Herkimer County BOCES, OTB, and most recently by the Herkimer County Treasurer's Office until her retirement in 1995. In addition, Lydia was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens. "Lydia enjoyed life and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Her world revolved around her grandchildren, whom she loved and adored as they did her. We could not have been blessed with a more devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, and friend. She was 'perfect!' Lydia will truly be missed and will remain in our hearts forever." Lydia is survived by her beloved husband, Steve Salamone; one son & daughter in law, James & Mary Salamone of Liverpool; one daughter & son in law, Josephine (Jo Lynn) & Massimo Sorbara of Freehold, NJ; her nine cherished grandchildren, Steve Salamone, Sarah Salamone, Emily Salamone, James Salamone Jr, Kayla Sorbara, Christina Sorbara, Mark Sorbara, Stephanie Sorbara and Stacy Sorbara; one brother & sister in law, Ralph & Dolores Franco of Herkimer; one sister, Yvonne Franco of Frankfort; her in-laws, Deacon Sam & Mary Salamone of Little Falls, Mayme Franco of Mohawk and Rosemarie Salamone of Frankfort and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, Anthony Franco and three sisters, Anna Franco Wiliczka, Philomena LaMarco, and Pierina Stasilli. Her funeral will be held Friday at 11:30 am from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 12:00 pm in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Alfred Lamanna, pastor emeritus. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Thursday from 4-8 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens will meet Thursday afternoon at 5:00 at the funeral home for services. Lydia was at one time employed by Derby's Sports Wear, then as a Teacher's Aide for Herkimer County BOCES and later for OTB. Lydia enjoyed life and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Her world revolved around her grandchildren that she loved and adored as they did her. We couldn't have asked for a better wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sisiter in law, mother in law and friend. She was "perfect." Lydia will truly be missed and will remain in out hearts forever.
