Mrs. Jane C. Lyons Frankfort - Mrs. Jane C. Lyons, 92, of 105 Canal St passed away Thursday, April 19, 2007 in Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, Amsterdam. She was born in Ft. Plain on January 28, 1915, the daughter of the late Stanley and Veronica Gejay Urkon Sr. She attended Frankfort School and graduated from Frankfort-Schuyler High School with the Class of 1934. She later attended and graduated from the Rochester Dental School in 1936 as a Dental Technician. Jane was married to Joseph P. Lyons on October 17, 1942 in Sts. Peter & Paul's Church by Rev. William Hogan. Mr. Lyons passed away on October 7, 2001. Jane was at one time employed by Dr. C.R. Bennison as a Dental Technician, later by Prine Cleaners and in the Accounting Office for Remington Arms. Her last employment was for Remington Rand and later Univac in both the Ilion and Utica Plants until her retirement on May 1, 1978 after 35 years of dedicated service. She was a of Our Lady Queen Of Apostles Church, the Altar Rosary Society, former member of the choir of Sts. Peter & Paul's Church, Univac's 25 Year Club & Community Choir of Schechel's. Jane is survived by her sister in law, Ann Murphy of Memphis, TN; her nieces and nephews, Kathleen Opalinski, Richard Lyons, John Lyons, Jerry Lyons, Diane Kroll and Michael Lyons; her cousins, Stella Matuenas, Irene Urkon, Sylvia Malek, Barbara Febish, Charles Brooks and Stanley Urkon; her very dear friends, Edna Rielly and Mary & Walter Brodowski; her God Child, Dr. Michael Brodowski and several neighbors and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Stanley Urkon Sr on August 29, 1938, her mother, Veronica Urkon on January 24, 1967 and one brother, Stanley Urkon Jr on May 1 1918. Her funeral will be held Monday morning at 10:30 am from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 11:00 am in Our Lady Queen Of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Alfred Lamanna, Pastor Emeritus. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Monday morning from 8:30 - 10:30 AM at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.
